The Stress of Wearing Clothes

One of the side effects they don't tell you about when a promotion comes through is that you need to change your uniforms. This is actually more of a pain than most civilians recognize. There's a manual with precise instructions on how to wear a uniform.

The Doctor and I have a process for putting the uniform together. I read the manual out loud, and she attempts to follow directions with a ruler, pinning the various badges on the uniform in accordance with the rules. Now she needs to affix new permanent rank insignia to the uniform. We take out the ruler and prepare for a stressful evening.

If we get it wrong, does it mean a court martial? Perhaps. Best not to find out. If she does happen to get it wrong, though, it will mean that I get yelled at. After all, I was the one reading the manual.
